About

In November 2013, PsychTalk was selected by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a featured podcast and added to their Science360 Network. A big thank you to our listeners and radio station staff for a strong two-year run. Currently the show is on leave, and past shows are being syndicated through WCOM 103.5 FM.

PsychTalk explores the human mind at every scale, from neurons in the brain, to individual behavior, to society and culture. Hear diverse ideas from psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, sociology, linguistics, economics, and beyond. We have in-depth conversations with featured guests, local reporting, personal stories, games with listeners and reports on fresh topics. Our guests are all kinds of storytellers, researchers and experts. Join us as we marvel at why people think and act the way they do.

Also find out ways to listen to shows, as well as who helps foot the bill. We’d love for you to contact us or find us on Facebook and Twitter.

PsychTalk was conceived and launched in July 2011 by our host, Jose Drost-Lopez. Most interviews are recorded at the studio of Carrboro Community Radio (WCOM), where Jose is a Board Member. Our studio’s home, Chapel Hill and Carrboro, is a hotbed of intellectual energy and forward-thinking ideas. We draw on and amplify the spirit of collaboration between UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, NC State, and the Research Triangle Park community. By nurturing thinkers for their stories and ideas, we often start conversations that have yet to reach the mainstream.
