Garry Gaddy on NAMI and Club Nova

Gary Gaddy spoke on PsychTalk on the live broadcast for November 2, 2011. We discussed his experiences with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). He highlighted NAMI’s Family to Family program, which is a free, 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses. He also talked about the challenges and rewards of answering NAMI’s HelpLine calls. In Chapel Hill, NC, we are lucky to have diverse organizations addressing mental health issues. Mr. Gaddy mentioned Club Nova as a great example of an effective local nonprofit group. He explained why their motto “A Place to Return” initially made no sense to him, and then made all the sense in the world.
