Music therapy

Music therapy is more than meets the ear. Sure, we can turn to an iPod or a chorus for some genuine benefits, but in the hands of a therapist music is a powerful tool to help relieve anxiety, facilitate self-exploration, build community and even guide recovery after brain injury. We are joined this hour by Dr. Sangeeta Swamy, a musician, educator and music therapist practicing for more than twenty years. She founded the Sound Mind Wellness Center and hosts The Sound Effect, a radio show about the power of music. Tune in to find out creative ways to heal with music, why some musicians live troubled lives, and what 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” can reveal about a client.
